Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro

Seattle is a thriving, progressive city nestled between the beautiful Puget Sound and Lake Washington with the majestic Cascade Mountains on the eastern horizon and the Olympic Mountains to the west. Some of its most popular areas include Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro, Queen Anne, Magnolia, Green Lake, Phinney Ridge and Fremont, as well as the central and western regions of the city. Residents take pride in a pedestrian-friendly downtown and limiting urban growth, making it a comfortable and clean place to live. Among the factors that make Seattle a magnet for people who want the excitement and opportunities of a metropolitan center with the relaxed lifestyle offered by many diverse small communities are its thriving cultural scene, outstanding natural beauty, vibrant and attractive waterfront, world-class dining and efficient public transportation.

Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro residents have access to a quiet park retreat called Roanoke Park. About two acres in size, it is a small, grassy oasis in the midst of a residential neighborhood. The park is located at the intersection of 10th Avenue East and East Roanoke.

The residential communities surrounding Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro include Portage Bay, Montlake, Broadmoor and Madison Park. Portage Bay is an offshoot of Lake Union located north of Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro. The bay itself features two yacht clubs, an array of houseboats and the Northwest Fisheries Science Center. The community known as Portage Bay is on the area of land between Interstate 5, State Route 520 and the bay. Homes located in this region tend to be charismatic and often date back to the early-20th century.

Montlake is located east of the Portage Bay community and north of Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro. This neighborhood is characterized by a high number of brick and wood frame homes dating back to the early-1900s. Residents of Montlake are known for their dedication to community activism, primarily through the Montlake Community Club. The character of the neighborhood and its proximity to central Seattle, have made Montlake a popular choice for home buyers.

Just east of Montlake is Washington Park, home of the Washington Park Arboretum and Seattle Japanese Garden. The Arboretum is one of Seattle’s most stunning natural spaces; the 230-acre living museum has more than 4,600 plant species, some of which are endangered. At almost any time of the year, the Arboretum displays a gorgeous array of colors and textures.

The Broadmoor neighborhood is located on the east side of Washington Park Arboretum. Broadmoor is a private golf community that boasts 85 acres of residential homes and a 115-acre golf course. Established in 1924, Broadmoor is one of Seattle’s more exclusive neighborhoods.

Madison Park is situated between Broadmoor and Lake Washington, south of Union Bay. This is another of Seattle’s established, wealthier neighborhoods. The stately residential streets are bordered by a small commercial district along Madison Street. The charming shops and eateries here appeal to locals and visitors alike.
