Capitol Hill-Seattle Metro is a diverse and lively urban community which offers charming homes for new residents. The community is bordered by Fuhrman Ave. on the north, 24th Ave. on the east, Pike Street on the south and Interstate 5 on the west. In the 2000 census, the population was about 25,000, which accounts for 4 percent of Seattle Metro residents. The name Capitol Hill may be a little misleading because there isn’t a state capitol, but the appeal of the community's homes is clear. Broadway, one of the main streets through the Capitol Hill area, is very popular among tourists and locals alike and is full of distinctive shops, homes, movie houses, clubs, bars, restaurants and cafés. In the background of all the activity are churches, elegant mansions and stately apartment buildings. Seattle Community College and Cornish College of the Arts are located here. Seattle University is also near Capitol Hill, and many of its students and teachers gravitate to the community in their leisure hours. Other community landmarks and sites include Volunteer Park, the Richard Hugo House, historic Lake View Cemetery, St. Mark's Cathedral and St. Joseph's Church. The 48-acre Volunteer Park features the Asian Art Museum, a conservatory and a historic water tower.
